Regain control of your life by learning to manage your anxiety.

We all get anxious sometimes. The difference between feeling anxious and struggling with anxiety is that people with anxiety disorders have intensive, excessive, and persistent worry about everyday life events. These fears, in turn, make it difficult for them to fulfill their personal, social, and academic or occupational commitments.

The good news is that we can break the cycles that fuel our anxiety. The key is making shifts to the way we think and the way we behave. This will be our focus throughout this course.

I've supported thousands of people through anxiety, working with them to manage their thoughts and shift their behaviors to make real and lasting changes.

Everyday, I hear from people who are struggling with anxiety. Many of them are overthinking, constantly worried, and finding it difficult to manage their daily tasks and responsibilities. On a professional level, I get it. Anxiety is considered a 'common mental health challenge' and so I know that it affects millions of people around the world.

I also get it on a personal level. I know what it's like to wake up at 4am and lie in bed, worrying about the things that are happening in my life. I also know what it's like to feel overwhelmed when things feel out of control (and they've felt that way a LOT over the last year).

The first step to managing anxiety is to recognize how it shows up in our lives. The next step is to tackle the unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that maintain it. This is what we will cover in this course. I share the evidence-based strategies that have helped thousands of clients and have made a significant difference in my own life too.

Managing Worries & Unhelpful Thoughts

In this module, we will learn how to differentiate between helpful and unhelpful worries and then acting accordingly. We will also explore how to designate a Worry Time each day. And finally, learn how to notice cognitive distortions and replace them with more rational thoughts.

Letting Go Through Mindfulness

Mindfulness is about being present and aware of your thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and physical surroundings. You have probably heard that mindfulness is good for our physical and psychological health. In particular, many studies have found that it reduces stress and anxiety.

The concept is straightforward but the implementation is much more challenging. These days, we are more likely to be ‘mind full’ than mindful.

In this module, I will share with you two interventions that you can use to become more mindful.

Changing Our Lifestyle

In this module, we will talk about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

You probably already know that sleeping well, eating healthily, and exercising regularly are all good for our physical health. Research also shows that they promote our wellbeing and can reduce our anxiety symptoms.

My favorite tip though, is something you probably haven’t heard before. It might sound a little strange, but is extremely effective. I'll share with you all the details in this module.

Shifting Our Behavior

We know that it's important to change some of our behaviors, whether that is making adjustments to our sleep, diet, and exercise regime, or incorporating mindfulness and worry time.

The issue that many of us face is that changing our routine takes energy, and our body actually tries to conserve energy when we are stressed and anxious. This means that it can be quite difficult to make the changes that will make us feel better.

One way to overcome this is to combine activity planning with behavioral experiments. In this module, I'll give you the tools to show you how.

Embracing Uncertainty

Life is uncertain - we can never know for sure what is going to happen. Some people are ok with this and other people really struggle with novelty, ambiguity, and unpredictability.

Therefore, it can be helpful to try to build our tolerance of uncertainty. Often, people who are tolerant of uncertainty tend to embrace new experiences, approach the world with openness and curiosity, and have more spontaneous fun.

But how can we do this? In this module, I will work through exercises to help you embrace the uncertainty and step into your full potential.

Plus, you'll also receive a comprehensive workbook to help you learn how to manage your anxiety
and unlock your full potential.

Dr. Sarah will guide you through this workbook, prompting you to complete the relevant exercises at the right times.

Managing your anxiety can be done when you have the proper tools to make it happen.
